• Hey Riders! Who likes to travel? An ancient fortress, a royal palace, a whimsical castle, and environments that inspired The DaVinci Code and the Harry Potter books – see these and much more when the Rough Riders travel to Scotland during Spring Break 2027. Register at PaySchools Central, or see Dr. Roebke for more information. 
• Smart Pass Reminders- make sure to log in and out on the kiosk if you are in the hallway to the appropriate bathrooms. If you are confused as to which bathroom to use, please ask your teacher. Also- Starting Monday, 9/21, every student will have 3 SmartPasses per day. Use them wisely and plan ahead!
• Student Council is selling glasses, beads and tattoos for the USA football game.
• Attention all NHS Members!  Reminder, our first meeting is today after school at 2:35 in the band room.  See you there!
• On the 17th, GSA will be joined by a special guest!  Come join us in the library after school to meet Amanda Cole from Plexus.
• Attention Rough Rider students and staff! Do you appreciate ChatGpt and other AI being used in the classroom? Do you find it to be useful to your education, or do you find it is a distraction and a hindrance to learning and teaching? Yearbook wants to know! A Google Form has been sent out asking for your thoughts! Responses are anonymous, so speak your mind. This is an opportunity for your voice to be heard, and if you'd like--you can also be interviewed by Yearbook and by the Media and Broadcasting class. If this is the case, just leave your email in the final question. So take some time to share your opinions, both in the survey and in the school. We look forward to hearing what you have to say!

Athletic News

• Presale tickets for Friday’s football game against Streetsboro will be available tomorrow during lunch periods in the Athletics/Activities office, Room 106.  Student tickets are $5 and adults are $10.  Get them at school and avoid the line!

• The Leadership Retreat applications are LIVE! Ready to crawl out of your cocoon and transform into a better leader? Maybe you’ve never taken the leap into leadership and want to see what it looks like to spread your wings. Whatever your reason, we want you there! Applications are posted in your Google Classroom and were emailed to you. Apply and pay your $25 deposit by September 22 to secure your spot!

• During Suicide Prevention Week, remember: It’s okay not to be okay.  Talk to someone, ask for help, and always look out for one another. 
• Teddy's Cafe will be back in action at the concessions stands by the cafeteria this Friday! During 1st and 2nd periods. We will be selling hot coffee and hot chocolate! Come on down with one dollar and say hi to your favorite baristas! 
• Today is the last day to nominate your peers (or yourself) for the 2026 Homecoming Court. The link will close today at 11:00 a.m. so get your nominations in!
• Seniors will be attending their first Senior Class Assembly on Tuesday, September 15, during second period. Students should report directly to the auditorium after first period on that day.

• Attention, Rough Riders!  The University of Toledo will be visiting today at 12:45 p.m. during 9th period in the Library.  Our next college visits are: 
  • Hiram College — Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 9, at 9:15 a.m. in the Library and
  • Thiel College — Thursday, September 10, at 9:15 a.m. in the Library.

• There is practice today for all new and returning members of the Speech and Debate Team today after school in room 117. 
• Homecoming Court NOMINATIONS link will be live TODAY beginning at 10:15. Take a moment to NOMINATE your peers (or yourself) for the 2026 Homecoming Court. The ballot will remain open through 11:00 am on Thursday, September 10.

• UNDERCLASSMEN can vote for up to 5 males and 5 females. Students who were on the 2024 or 2025 Homecoming Court are NOT eligible to be on court again until senior year. The top 5 names in each category will be on the Homecoming Court Ballot for next week's voting. Ballots with MORE THAN 5 per category (male/female) will be voided.
• SENIORS may vote for up to 10 males and 10 females.  The top 10 names in each category will be on the Homecoming Court Ballot for next week's voting. Ballots with MORE THAN 10 per category (male/female) will be voided.

ATHLETIC NEWS

• On Wednesday, September 9, all Theodore Roosevelt High School FALL senior athletes are invited to be part of this year’s group photo for the Fall Sports Program. The photo will be taken promptly at 2:00 PM in the Competition Gym. Senior athletes should arrive already dressed in their FALL sport uniform and ready for the photo at 2:00. Information will be shared with teachers so they know athletes will need to be released from class. Participation is optional, but there will be no retakes or make-up photo. If you would like to be included, you must be there Wednesday at 2:00 PM.

• TOMORROW is SCHOOL PICTURE DAY!!! All students, including seniors and CTE students, will get their photos taken during their English Class. If you take English at another school as part of a CTE program or as a CCP class, please stop down in the Competition Gym lobby during your lunch, study hall, or flex period to get your photo taken. Paper order forms should be turned in at the time of getting your picture taken. 
• Looking for a GREAT way to start your Friday? Join FCA! All students are welcome to join Fellowship of Christian Athletes THIS Friday for breakfast, conversation, connection, and a positive start to your day! Bring a friend and come check it out this Friday from 6:50 - 7:20 in room 203! 
• Student Guest Forms for Homecoming are now available in the Activities Office.  A student is permitted ONE GUEST or DATE (also known as your +1) for the dance.  If that guest/date is NOT a Roosevelt or CTE student, then you must complete the form prior to purchasing tickets.   The form should not be used to invite additional friends from another school or graduates if you are already going to the dance with a Roosevelt student as a date (your +1).  If the student is not a Roosevelt or CTE student, you must purchase the ticket for yourself and your student guest at the same time, as a pair of tickets.  Likewise you must arrive at the dance together for check in.

Athletic News

• Roosevelt Cross Country kicked off their competitive season last Saturday at the GlenOak Invitational. Competing against some of the toughest teams in the region, our runners had a strong start on the challenging course!  Senior, Harri Wunderle, led the boys team from the start.  He was pushed along the way by Junior, Dan Simon.  Also scoring for the boys were Grayson Kruger, Eli Karpinecz, and Freshman, Indy Geldhof.   The girls team was led by Freshman, Matilda Anderson, in her high school debut.  Both Cate Simms and Nikayla Williams ran hard to better their times from last season.  The Rough Riders head to North West High School this weekend to compete at the Brian Armstrong Invitational.

• Get Your SmartPass Student ID!  Students, please take a few minutes to get your SmartPass Student ID! Your digital ID is available right through SmartPass. The main point of the SmartPass Student ID is to give students a quick, accessible way to verify that they are a TRHS student without needing a physical ID card. Follow these steps to access your Student ID:  

1. Log in to CLEVER through the  Kent City Schools website on your web browser;  
2. Open SmartPass and log in using your school account;  
3. Access your Student ID through SmartPass in the top right corner.  
4. You will be required to show your ID upon arrival after the start of the school day or utilizing it for leaving campus-it must be shown to Security. 

Your ID will include the appropriate logo if you are part of CTE, Flex Pass, or another designated program. Need a paper ID or have questions? See Mrs. Williamson in Room 109.

• Rough Riders pick-up another conference victory defeating Springfield 157-181, moving their record to 4-0 in MAC play!  Drew VanDamme led the way shooting 2 under while Garrett Polcha fired a personal best of 38!  Representing Roosevelt  today were Drew VanDamme, Jax Turner, Owen Puhalla, Garrett Polcha, Anderson Liggett and Zakary Kelling.  Great job Riders!  The boys will be back in action on Friday against Norton.

Wait until buses have moved or use designated walkways.  Always stop and look for traffic before crossing Roosevelt Drive.  Do not assume drivers can see you—make sure traffic has stopped before crossing.  Your safety matters, Rough Riders. • Hey coaches and team captains! We encourage YOU to use our daily announcements to get information out about your team events, game day themes, and results of your competitions. You could even highlight players’ noteworthy achievements during a game or match. All announcements will also be posted on our TRHS website by date! Show your team spirit and submit your team announcements this year.

• Let’s talk about Parking Permits – If you are driving and parking on campus, you must have a parking permit.  In order to get one, your parent or guardian has to log on to Final Forms and answer YES that you will be driving to school and complete the required information. After they answer yes, you will also have to log in to final forms and sign the student form. All drivers should note that there are designated spots for handicap, visitors, cosmetology patrons and silent auction winners.  DO NOT park in those spots without a proper permit or you will be ticketed. When the front lot becomes full, please remember to use the stadium lot. Mrs. D’Sidocky will start distributing parking passes to Roosevelt students beginning August 25 during lunches. If you are a CTE student from another district, please see the CTE office to pick up your permit. Drive safely,  Rough Riders!
• Calling all drama guild members or anyone interested in joining the TRHS Drama Guild!! Our first Drama Guild meeting is after school TODAY in the auditorium at 2:45 pm. Come out and see what we’re all about!
• Hey Rough Riders!  Do you want to make Roosevelt "Out of this World?"  Come to Booster Club Monday's after school in room 133.  Our first major project is the Homecoming Dance.  We need your help making this evening truly star studded. So set those alarms and get ready to start senior year with the BEST class ever - Class of 2027, let's make it a year to remember!!
